Crown Princess Victoria Wears ByTimo Satin for an Evening Dinner in Härnösand

Crown Princess Victoria chose a look by the Swedish label ByTimo for a private dinner in Härnösand, closing her first full day of engagements in Västernorrland. She wore a glossy satin blouse with a matching maxi skirt to the evening, held at the residence of county governor Carin Jämtin, where she was the guest of honour. The Crown Princess travelled to the county for a programme of visits, and the dinner marked the end of the first day.

The change of outfit happened at speed. The Crown Princess had only half an hour to get ready in the king’s room, one floor above the party rooms, before guests climbed the 22 steps up to the dinner. An evening skirt is a familiar choice for her at this kind of occasion, and the long, shining skirt paired with a satin top gave a dressed-up but relaxed finish to a busy day of visits in the county.

The guest list had shrunk at the last minute. Prince Daniel cancelled his part of the trip at short notice because of a cold, and court marshal Isabella Törngren, who was also due to travel, was unwell too, which cut the number at the table from 17 to 15. “The prince is at home, he has had a cold all week,” Ulrika Näsholm of the Royal Court told Svensk Damtidning. Guests travelled from Övik, Sollefteå, Sundsvall, Ånge and Kramfors, so the table brought together people from across the county.

The evening came with a house rule. Everyone had to leave their phones in the cloakroom, a policy the residence applies “because everyone becomes so much more present”. Dinner was three courses drawn from the north of Sweden: char roe with almond potato cream, then saddle of reindeer with penny bun mushrooms and roasted beetroot with liquorice, and finally cloudberries with caramelised milk chocolate and salted toffee.

The ByTimo set was a practical choice for a tight schedule: a single satin blouse and skirt that could be put on quickly after a long day and still suit a festive table. Photographs from inside the residence by Pontus Lundahl of TT and Helena Wiklund of Svensk Damtidning show the Crown Princess at the dinner with her hosts. The evening rounded off the first day of a visit to Västernorrland that she completed without her husband at her side.
