British make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench has left Isamaya Beauty, the make-up brand she founded in 2022. She has said she will speak publicly about the situation at a later date, after customers began raising complaints about orders on social media. The brand itself has not commented on her exit.
According to a report by The Business of Fashion, Ffrench exited the business in 2025 and has not been involved for more than a year. The news surfaced after a customer, @rosiemacdnd, wrote on Instagram on 9 October about problems with an order. Ffrench replied that the situation was unacceptable and made clear she had stepped away. “I am not associated with the company anymore,” she wrote, adding that this had been the case for some time. Other recent posts drew similar comments about missing orders and slow replies from customer service.
On 13 October Ffrench posted a statement on Instagram addressed to her friends, peers, colleagues and the wider beauty community. She thanked people for their support. The messages had been “reminding me why I love this industry”, she wrote, and she said she would address her departure herself in due course.
Isamaya Beauty launched in 2022 with its Industrial collection, which Ffrench described as a way to take her creative ideas beyond her work as a make-up artist and her collaborations with other brands. In February 2025 the label introduced its Core collection, which focused on skincare-first make-up formulas and came with restocks of existing products. In June that year Ffrench marked the brand’s third anniversary, which coincided with 15 years of her career in make-up. When the brand first launched, Ffrench said she hoped it would show people that there are other ways to approach beauty, and the label built a following around that experimental idea over its first three years.
The brand has not posted on Instagram since 15 July, and products on its direct-to-consumer website are currently discounted. Ffrench, meanwhile, has already signalled a change of direction. In late December 2025 she hinted at a new project for 2026, describing it as a design adventure that would not involve make-up and would celebrate authentic artistry and the people behind it. Neither she nor the brand has yet given further details about the split, including when she left or why, so customers are still waiting for a full account.
