Ariana Grande Takes Legal Action Over Years of Leaked Unreleased Music and Photos

The singer is suing unidentified hackers she says phished their way into the accounts of photographers and producers working with her, then sold the stolen material on.

Ariana Grande has filed suit against a group of anonymous hackers she alleges are responsible for extensive leaks of unreleased songs, images and video from her recording sessions, according to Variety.

The claim describes a pattern of phishing and hacking attacks used to break into the digital accounts of photographers and producers in her professional circle. The material taken from those accounts was then resold for substantial sums, the lawsuit alleges.

Because the defendants have not been identified, part of the purpose of the action is to unmask them. The filing states that the suit seeks to establish who these unknown individuals are so they can be held to account for conduct it describes as reprehensible and a violation of privacy.

Grande’s filing puts the scale of the problem in the hundreds of leaks since her career began in 2011. In 2023 alone, according to the claim, hackers obtained 45 unreleased songs. The following year, someone allegedly impersonated a photographer to get hold of further unpublished images.
