Everyone wants to be a Scandi girl these days, and there’s no better place to embrace the lifestyle than Copenhagen. Denmark’s capital has long been known for the colourful 17th-century waterfront of Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid statue, Danish pastries — a cardamom bun at Juno the Bakery is a must — and its bike culture.
Lately it’s also a rising fashion capital. The semiannual Copenhagen Fashion Week has grown steadily over two decades, and the city is dotted with vintage shops and flea markets worth a browse.
It’s a Scandinavian design mecca, too (HAY House is essential), and an increasingly serious culinary destination, from new-Nordic tasting menus to laid-back harbour-side seafood.
Add it up — design, food, fashion and easy waterside calm — and Copenhagen makes the case for lingering rather than just passing through.
