Liam Gallagher Reveals Why Oasis Won’t Release a New Album but Confirms Gigs Next Year
Liam Gallagher has ruled out another Oasis album despite the band’s triumphant live return.
The Manchester band put on the tour of the year when they reunited for a global stadium run after 16 years away. But fans hoping it has sparked the creative juices for another record will be sorely disappointed.
One asked Liam directly on X, writing that a new Oasis album would “actually change lives” and pleading with him to make it happen.
Liam’s answer was emphatic and delivered with his trademark humour. He replied that the answer was no, joking that he was not prepared for the criticism if a record failed to sell 100 million copies in the first hour, cure the nation’s bad breath and constipation, and turn back time for Cher, before adding that the band should just do some gigs and be happy.
It prompted another fan to ask a genuine question, wondering whether any new Oasis music would sound different from the old material or stay true to the original sound.
If the Gallaghers do decide to rethink their stance on new material, the answer should please the diehards. Liam said he would like to think it would still sound like Oasis, and that they had not turned into a bunch of “electronic umbrellas” desperately trying to keep up with the kids.
The Sun exclusively revealed earlier this month that Oasis will return to stages next year with an epic 12-date residency at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and six dates at Knebworth, honouring their iconic 90s double header at the estate.
One supporter asked whether the band would play the track Gas Panic live next year, to which Liam replied, “Of course,” all but confirming the band will be back performing soon enough.
