Rihanna has handed her partner the keys to a limited Fenty Skin drop. It comes down to two products, both of them things you should already own.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have spent years shaping fashion, music and pop culture from the same address, running campaigns for luxury houses and building a business empire worth billions between them. Rocky keeps his style credentials current through collaborations with Ray-Ban, Puma and Moncler. Rihanna rewrote the rules of the cosmetics industry with Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin.
Now she has stepped aside and let him design something. The rapper has put together a limited-edition Fenty Skin collection built around two products almost nobody has a good excuse to skip: a daily sunscreen and a lip balm. Both arrive wrapped in his own visual language, which pulls from streetwear and luxury tailoring in roughly equal measure. It also lands squarely in the middle of an ongoing shift, with skincare now sitting comfortably inside men’s grooming and personal style rather than off to one side of it.
The lip balm bundle, and the keychain that carries it
The pick of the drop is the Build Your Own Lux Balm Bundle, €38. Rather than a fixed set, you choose two Lux Balm Hydrating Moisture Barrier Lip Balms in either Barbados Cherry or Coconut. The formula uses vitamin E and shea butter to reinforce the lips’ own moisture barrier, so dryness takes longer to creep back in.
The design is the real draw. The bundle ships with a limited-edition Hair Roller Keychain, designed by Rocky in the shape of a classic hair roller, with space inside for the balms themselves. It is a genuinely odd object, which is presumably the point.
The sunscreen
The other half of the collection is the Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen + Collector’s Case, €35 at fentybeauty.com.
Hydra Vizor is already an award-winning fixture in the Fenty Skin lineup, a daily moisturiser that handles hydration and sun protection in the same step. The SPF 30 formula delivers heavy moisture while shielding against UV, and it works on skin texture, evenness and elasticity over time. There is no white cast, which is the failure mode that puts most people off daily sunscreen in the first place. The ingredient list includes hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, aloe, and baobab and Kalahari melon extracts.
For this release it comes in a collector’s edition with a Hair Roller Case, again designed by Rocky, again modelled on the vintage roller. The motif carries across the whole collection, turning a slightly kitsch beauty relic into a luxury object and a tube of SPF into something closer to an accessory.
The campaign line does the rest of the work: “Don’t Be Dumb – Use SPF.”
Why it will move fast
Rihanna founded Fenty Beauty in 2017 and reset the industry’s expectations around inclusivity almost immediately, launching with a foundation range broad enough to cover skin tones the category had been ignoring for decades. The brand went global within a few years.
This drop is limited, which means Rocky’s fans and anyone who collects this sort of thing will get there first. The sunscreen you can replace. The hair roller you cannot.
