The Sussexes appear to have taken Archie and Lilibet to Princess Diana’s childhood home — and, judging by the flowers, to her burial site on the estate.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry spent part of this month on a low-key European holiday with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. The trip included an unannounced stop at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, where the children saw their grandfather, King Charles III, for the first time in more than four years.

A second, quieter stop has now emerged.

Yesterday afternoon Meghan posted an Instagram carousel documenting the family’s summer, captioned “Summer Holiday” with a sun emoji. Most of it is straightforwardly domestic: Archie in a plane cockpit, Lilibet flipping into a pool, Meghan sunbathing with the family dog. One frame stands apart.

It shows the two children walking with Harry along tree-lined grounds. Archie is out in front, matching his father’s pace, and both are carrying large bouquets. Lilibet trails behind with a small bag over her arm and a jacket.

As People reported, the photo is believed to have been taken at Althorp, the Spencer family estate in Northamptonshire and Princess Diana’s childhood home. If so, the flowers Harry and Archie are carrying may have been intended for Diana’s burial site, which sits on an island in the estate’s Oval Lake.

Diana moved to Althorp at 14, after her father inherited the title of 8th Earl Spencer. She lived there roughly three years before leaving for finishing school and, later, West London. The estate was chosen as her resting place following her death in 1997. Her younger brother, Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer, lives there still.
