Benjamin Moore has named Webster Green HC-130 as its Colour of the Year for 2027. The shade sits between a bright emerald and a rich evergreen, and the paint company says the choice is based on extensive market research.
The annual announcement, known in the trade as COTY, is followed by interior designers and decorators. This year’s pick marks a clear move away from 2026, when Benjamin Moore chose Silhouette AF-655, a warm mix of espresso and charcoal grey that fitted a wider brown trend in both interiors and fashion. Webster Green swaps that dark neutral for colour, while still keeping a deep, grounded tone. The company’s yearly pick is meant to point designers and paint buyers towards the shade it expects to shape homes over the following twelve months.
Andrea Magno, vice president of brand, colour and integrated marketing at Benjamin Moore, said versions of green had shown “remarkable staying power” in the company’s research. She said Webster Green combines a sense of stability with optimism. The company also linked the shade to a current wish for trusted, grounded colours that make rooms stand out. Designers often use green to bring a sophisticated, natural feel to a space, and the colour is sometimes called nature’s neutral.
Benjamin Moore ties the choice to a wish to reconnect with the past. A marketing video for the launch shows illustrator Tanu Vasu painting a whimsical interior while seated at an antique desk, a scene that Wallpaper compares to the world of Bridgerton. Alongside the main shade, the company revealed seven complementary paints. Three of them have been named: Shakespeare Tan, a warm neutral; Townsend Harbor Brown, a mocha with a berry tint; and Antique Copper, which has the colour of milk chocolate. Together they keep a link to the browns that defined the previous year.
Magno described Webster Green as “rooted and forward-looking” and said rooms painted in it or its related shades can feel distinctive and collected while still seeming new. The pick arrives as paint brands and design houses set out their colour forecasts for the coming year, and green has been a steady presence in those lists. Benjamin Moore presents Webster Green as a shade that can carry a whole room or sit alongside its sister colours, giving decorators a ready-made palette to work with in 2027.
